Creatine is a natural substance found in the human body. It plays a vital role as an energy carrier and energy buffer in every cell. An adult person has around 80 - 130 g of creatine in his body. About 1 - 2 % is broken down and excreted every day and have to be replenished. It can be partly synthesized in various organs. The other portion is ingested from food. Creatine is contained in relevant quantities just in meat and fish, but not in vegetables or dairy products.

Studies have shown that creatine increases physical performance during short-term, high intensity, repeated exercise bouts, provided that 3 g are taken per day. Therefore this health claim has been approved by the EU - being one of very few for dietary supplements in sports applications.

Nut just efficacy but also purity of creatine is important. AlzChem AG has developed a very safe manufacturing process and has constructed a purpose-built plant for creatine and this process. To assure highest quality in every lot the production is accompanied by regular internal and external quality controls and continuous chemical analysis.

Creatine monohydrate is sold globally to notable manufacturers of sports nutrition products under the brand Creapure®. By placing the Creapure®-logo on their product labels many of them demonstrate that these products contain an ingredient of highest quality from a traceable source in Germany.
